Blog Welcome

Welcome My name is Paula Walters, and I’m excited to share the beginning of my blogging journey with you. This platform is dedicated to my lifelong journey of resilience and transformation, and I hope to inspire others by sharing my experiences.

At 50 years old, I have faced an incredibly challenging journey. Looking back, I realize that the first step in changing my life was changing my mindset. It took until this year for that shift to occur, largely thanks to the help of a functional medicine clinic. The growth and healing I experienced with the help of two incredible doctors opened up a new perspective on life for me.

My journey has been anything but easy. I’ve endured child abuse, domestic violence, near-fatal strangulation, addiction, mental health struggles, and attempted suicide. All these experiences shaped my worldview in ways that were often unhealthy. I had to withdraw from everyone and everything to re-evaluate my beliefs and start anew. This meant tearing down my inner self to the foundation and rebuilding from there.

I now understand that many of the behaviors I learned were dangerous cycles of abuse that I thought were normal. Breaking these chains required immense inner work and self-reflection. I believe every survivor deserves their own lane to heal and transform in a way that works for them, as our traumas and recovery processes are unique.

A pivotal moment in my journey was recognizing that hurt people often hurt others. I had to take accountability for the emotional wreckage I caused in others’ lives due to my own unresolved trauma. This realization was a significant step in my healing process.

Connecting with another brain injury survivor on social media played a crucial role in my transformation. Her story, though different from mine, resonated with me and led me to seek help from a functional neurologist. This journey taught me that changing my life required breaking down habits and beliefs on a cellular level and addressing my wellness in all areas—spiritually, physically, emotionally, financially, socially, and professionally.

As a paramedic for 20 years, I realized that my love for the job was partly due to my own unresolved traumas. It was easier to help others with their emergencies than to deal with my own. Reflecting on this, I understood the importance of surrounding myself with the right people and the impact of my environment on my well-being.

My platform is a space for courage, connection, and unwavering belief in our ability to redesign our lives. I want to share the incredible knowledge I’ve gained from Dr. Eric and Dr. Mike and inspire others to find peace, joy, and fulfillment on their journeys.

In a world filled with negativity, I hope this blog can be a beacon of hope. While there are truly evil people, most are simply hurt and don’t understand the impact of their actions. If my story can help just one person see life differently, then it’s all worth it.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. This is just the beginning, and I look forward to sharing more with you in weekly posts. You can learn more about my story on my social media platforms. Together, we can break the chains and change our mindsets about life. Have a wonderful day and thank you for being here.

Paula
