About Paula Walters

Bridging Trauma, Brain Health & Wellness Through Education, Lived Experience & Hope

Paula Walters is a speaker, consultant, paramedic, trauma survivor, and brain health advocate passionate about helping people better understand the connection between trauma, the brain, the nervous system, and total body wellness.

With more than twenty years of experience in emergency services and a deeply personal healing journey shaped by child abuse, domestic violence, traumatic brain injury, chronic illness, and recovery, Paula brings both professional insight and lived experience to every conversation, presentation, and resource she shares.

After surviving years of trauma — including a near-fatal strangulation in 2006 that resulted in a traumatic brain injury — Paula spent years searching for answers as her health and neurological symptoms continued to decline. What followed was a long and often overwhelming journey through chronic illness, invisible symptoms, nervous system dysregulation, and loss of function that deeply impacted every area of her life.

In 2019, while searching for answers and hope, Paula discovered the powerful and often-overlooked connection between trauma, brain injury, chronic stress, nervous system dysfunction, and healing. Through specialized neurological care, wellness-focused lifestyle changes, faith, education, and perseverance, she began rebuilding her health and reclaiming her life.

That journey transformed not only her understanding of healing, but also her purpose.

Today, Paula is dedicated to educating survivors, professionals, organizations, and communities about the hidden impacts of trauma and brain injury while helping bridge the gap between trauma-informed education, brain health awareness, wellness, and hope.

Her work focuses on:
• Trauma and brain health education
• Nervous system awareness and regulation
• Trauma-informed care and communication
• Domestic violence and strangulation awareness
• Brain injury advocacy and education
• Chronic stress, burnout, and wellness
• Healing, resilience, and intentional living
• Whole-person wellness and recovery

Through speaking, podcasting, educational resources, coaching-style support, and professional training, Paula creates spaces where both survivors and professionals feel seen, understood, educated, and empowered.

Her message combines science, lived experience, wellness, faith, and practical insight — encouraging people to look beyond symptoms and diagnoses and better understand the whole person behind the story.

Whether speaking to healthcare professionals, first responders, advocacy organizations, leadership teams, survivors, or community audiences, Paula’s mission is simple:

To help people understand that healing, growth, and hope are possible — even after years of trauma, adversity, or survival mode.

“Healing is not about becoming who you were before trauma. It’s about learning how to rebuild, reconnect, and move forward with hope.”
